WELL.
I double-booked last-big-hang-out plans with both Aurelie and the rest of Apt 131 for tomorrow. I had forgotten that the apartment had planned a Lord of the Rings marathon (BJ has never seen, we finally own all three, we love them, etc etc) and told Aurelie we could go to Lake Michigan. Figured out my big mistake at the beginning of the week and began the mad scramble to fix it.
Tuesday, That One said that even better than trading his Thursday for my Saturday, he would just takemy Saturday, since he needed the hours. He just needed to talk to his friend who he'd made kinda-sorta-plans with, but he'd call the store that night to let me know!
...yeah, he never called back. Texting him on Wednesday got no response. Fortunately, Diana agreed to trade, so I still got Saturday off! Yay! All I had to do was work her 7:30 shift today!
...UGH.
[o] I closed last night. Left about quarter to 11 (not the best close, whole different ball of WTH).
[o] My sleep was craptastic. I don't think I got a whole hour the entire night. Just awful.
[o] Got up at 6:30, worked 7:30 to 1:30, was a moron the entire time due to sleep deprivation and unhappy stomach not allowing me much caffeine intake.
[o] Get home, get in the shower, have just enough time to get lunch at 933...and not really do anything else.
[o] On the way to Goshen to meet Aurelie, get a text from That One's girlfriend (who I'm friends with) relaying a message from him: he can totally take my Saturday shift! ...yeah, about that. Gave up on that after zero response. Go ask Diana if she wants the shift that is now hers, thanks for letting me know I worked today for nothing, JERKFACE. (I was nicer than that to his girlfriend, obviously).
[o] Hang out with Aurelie at the Goshen Starbucks, good times, good times...hey, why are these ladies setting up candles? Oh, they're hosting a Party Lites event, okay...some of their friends are here, okay...some more friends...now kids....now we're surrounded by a large crowd of loud and excited women getting way too happy about candles and completely ruining our attempts to study/write. FUN.
[o] Get home, open the door to get hit in the face with the smell of cat urine. Horace went in today to get fixed, Ryan picked him up, he pissed in the box on the way home. While he's cleaned himself off (mostly) (he's also adorably drugged), both he and the carrier still reek, making the living area completely inhospitable. So much for watching TV.
Honestly, the only person I'm annoyed with is That One, for obvious reasons. My co-workers today were nice, it was awesome to spend some more time with Aurelie, and I'm hella looking forward to tomorrow's Lord of the Rings-a-thon.
...but MAN. TODAY. BE DONE NOW.
The next week (and then some):
[o] Friday: Lord of the Rings-a-thon, hanging out/baking/drinking with Aurelie and friends in Goshen in the evening, sleeping over to make Saturday an easier start
[o] Saturday: Lake Michigan! WOO! Plus packing in the evening.
[o] Sunday: Last day at Ireland, off at 5:30, may try for another night out with co-workers, but definitely lots of packing after work.
[o] Monday: All-day-come-over-any-time-mostly-933-people party as we continue packing & cleaning.
[o] Tuesday: Scramble to finish shoving everything into the trailer and call to have it picked up that night so we don't have to wait around for it on Wednesday. Bed will be completely packed, so we're spending the night at the hotel next to 933.
[o] Wednesday: Grab breakfast at 933, say good-bye, start driving. End night in Pennsylvania.
[o] Thursday: Continue driving, arrive in Connecticut.
[o] Friday-Sunday: Say hi to everyone, visit my new store, figure out flooring and possibly new furniture, get as settled as we can without 99% of our stuff.
[o] Monday: Trailer arrives, start unpacking.
Meanwhile, my Etsy store is on vacation since (a) we're moving, (b) the listings expired yesterday, and (c) I haven't decided what to list (or re-list) and plan on polling my fanbase (ha) for ideas.
Finally, on a ridiculously sappy note, today is what only I am calling our pre-anniversary. One year from today is Ryan's and my wedding date. :)
Now, back to trying to unkink the stress from my back...

Ssssstuff?
I have been cranky and feeling mildly crappy for about two weeks now and I DON'T LIKE IT.
And when I say cranky, I mean CRANKY. The little things that might barely blip on the Annoyance Radar have me ready to rip someone's head off...and I've come really close to it on several occasions, when normally I just clam up and seethe in silence.
I've always tended toward a very short frustration fuse, but lately it's been almost nonexistent. I can go from fine to FUCKOFF in no time flat, and I hate it. I've always hated it, and I hate it even more now...which is funny, because do I hate the fact that it's shorter, or is my hating it caused by it being shorter? Whee!
And I'm exhausted and creaky, but what else is new.
I got tomorrow off, so I can go to Emily's birthday dinner. Thursday may be a surprise party for another friend, Saturday is Other Shift's last night before transferring and may end with a few of us going out to say goodbye.
Tomorrow's plan: writing/stuff in the morning and early afternoon, evening spent with Ryan, night spent with friends. Thursday is more Ryan time, probably errands and such. Friday I don't work until 4:30, so more Ryan time or possibly Aurelie time since she's back from her trip.
Next week's schedule is almost all closing, which is confusing since I almost always pre-close. Oh, except for Sunday, when I'm schedule as a mid...okay! o.O
Ummm what else what else...OH! I got up early with one mission today: Get to book store and buy new A Dance With Dragons, the new book in A Song Of Ice And Fire. :D I usually don't like hard covers, but there's no way I'd be able to wait the year or however long before it hit paperback. Plus it's pretty, has lovely maps on the inside of the covers, and I had a gift card from my birthday still, soooo....mine :D
Of course, I still have half of A Feast With Crows to finish first, but that's okay. I'll get through it fast enough.
And on that note...

It's Time To Start A Countdown...
I had a longer post made up relating a song that I'm really enjoying currently to my current work situation, but it was long and rambling, and I realized that it only made sense to me...and maybe Ryan and BJ. Suffice to say, the three of us caught most of a concert on TV last night, and Ryan bought me the concert CD for me today as an early birthday present (such a love), and one song in particular is matching up with realizations about stuff at work. This used to be a funhouse/But now it's full of evil clowns...
Anyway.
Yesterday and today were crazy at work, and I have no doubt that it will continue on through to Sunday. It might die down a bit after that...but only a bit. Summer has arrived at Starbucks, and its name this year is Mocha Coconut Frappucinno. Ugh.
Tomorrow will really be the hill to get over, as I have to work with the two people that make work a struggle. Wednesday, however...Wednesday is looking to be the perfect end of a long and difficult work week. Then I'll have my weekend, and I'm not going to think about how it'll start over again, I'm going to think about getting a hair cut and spending time with Ryan and with friends and RELAXING.
For now: dinner.

Bits Of The Day.
[o] I subbed over at Ironwood today, and it was fantastic! Like a mini-vacation. I worked with Jen, a shift who was at 933 over the summer before getting transferred, one of my favorite people to work with EVER. I also worked with SAMEH, my awesome roommate, and it was inside jokes and nerdery all day! WHEE! I liked my job for the first time in at least a month!
[o] Tomorrow I start what will hopefully become a regular schedule of getting up early and alternatively working out or arting around before work. Tomorrow is a work out day. Wish me luck!
[o] Zach is still in hospice, and the doctors have given him only a day or two. I keep waiting for that awful phone call, and trying not to think about it. It sucks, it sucks, it sucks.

O Blessed Sunshine!
Today I got up early, ran around South Bend getting dirty and taking pictures in the gorgeous weather, spent some time at 933 trying to write and mostly failing to even get as far as trying, did errands and grocery shopping and two loads of laundry, and did some wedding organizing (i.e. finally gave in to my spreadsheet addiction) while watching Glee.
Tomorrow is back to the grind. And not just the regular old grind! New Boss Lady texted me this morning to ask if I could come in early, so I'm working eight and a half hours tomorrow! JOY!
However, she also mentioned a possibility of working at 933 on Sunday, which would completely make up for it. *crosses fingers*
Off to bed soonish, I'm hoping to make the getting-up-early-to-art thing a habit. Or should I sleep in to gather energy for the freaking long day? Hmmm...

Pizza and Bubbly and Grumps, Oh My!
I'd change the time to be posting on Wednesday, but hell with it.
Yesterday (that is, Tuesday) was pretty great. Ryan and I had the day off together to official celebrate being engaged. We went out and did some shopping, I got my ring back from being sized (:D), and the night included pizza and champagne for all (thanks, Mom! :D) while watching Tron: Legacy and episodes of Camelot. Hee :)
Today was...less awesome. I had to get up early (for me) to get laundry done so I could have clean work clothes. Then it was...insanely busy. And understaffed. And co-workers were pissy. And bleh. Then one of my co-worker's roommates, another Starbucks employee, came in completely drunk and hit on me pretty hardcore. It wasn't creepy so much as awkward, and I just know that the two other workers at the time will never let me hear the end of it. Oy.
Next week's schedule looks to be the same as this week, except instead of 40 hours it's 39 hours plus a one hour store meeting (fuuuun). I'm trying to track down my boss so I can talk to her about taking time off for my trip to Connecticut, but she's almost never at the store when I'm there, and it's a bit too complicated of a conversation for texting. Oy. I'll figure it out.
For now: so tired! Sleep...

Lesson One: It's Not That Scary, Ya Big Wuss.
Man, purposefully not updating for a week has really thrown me off. Blah.
Right, like I wasn't off before.
Yesterday was an interesting work day. It was pretty busy when I got there, and pretty much stayed that way for half my shift. The second half...dead. Things were done done done by seven thirty, so I got to leave around ten to nine, forty minutes before my shift was scheduled to end. Score!
Got home, found chicken on a plate on a counter, being squished under the sugar bin with lemon sitting all over it. Oooo!
Dinner was that chicken, also seasoned with salt and pepper, cooked on the panini press/grill I got Ryan for our anniversary, then sauteed with red and yellow pepper and garlic and white wine and served with linguine. It was delicious, and it was my first informal cooking class...
Both Mom and I joked, upon our engagement, that now I need to learn how to cook. Then Ryan was sick for four days, and I stepped up to the plate and bravely drove out to the local array of fast food places to feed myself and my sick man. It was a lesson...well, no, it was a highlighter stroke over the lesson that I need to learn how to cook real food. So we're working on it bit by bit.
I managed to switch shifts around with a co-worker, so I now have Tuesday off, which will be the first day Ryan and I will have off together since we got engaged. We're finally going to celebrate! Probably with pizza and champagne! Woo! Party!
Speaking of shifts, I have mine in a little while, so it's off to feed and clothe myself and all that junk. Ciao!

My Finger Feels Naked...
Dropped the ring off at the jewelry store today to get it sized. It's going to take a week. :( I haven't regularly worn rings in quite a long time, and I only wore this one for a week (and even then, only straight through shifts for three days after getting over the fear of getting it covered in mocha), but I still miss it and feel it's absence.
I know. I'm a sap.
Today was some shopping and chores, the usual for a day off. Tomorrow is the fun day off! Aurelie are going to the Vera Bradley Outlet Sale in Fort Wayne. :D I have an "allowance" to keep me honest amongst the marked down purses, but it's still going to be fuuuuun. Plus Aurelie has a couple of places she wants to show me, including a cool little indie bookshop. WHEE! :D
After that, it's going to be a fun time until my next day off. Next week's schedule is 40 hours, which is awesome money-wise but will be exhausting. Oh well! Yay money!
That's all I have for now. Time for newly-washed, brand-new pajamas and my new book (Offbeat Bride: Creative Alternatives for Independent Brides :D), then bed to prepare for tomorrow's funtime!

Prepare For Dodgy Updates.
Yesterday was interesting.
Got up at 10:30 and met Aurelie for study time at 933 a bit after 11. We ended up hanging out mostly, which was great :)
Got a text from New Boss Lady while there, asking if I could pick up a shift on Friday at Ironwood, due to schedule stuff. Long and short of it is, new guy hired last week? Two days of no call, no shows. He's gone, and we have 38 hours to cover this coming week. Fun!
So my schedule got futzed with, and it has its ups and downs. Looooong week (but more money!). 4 of the 6 days are closing shifts (but it's better at Ireland, and the one at Ironwood is with Shift D, who I miss, so yay!). Miss a day off (but half the days I don't go in until 4:30, and Aurelie and I are hanging out on Thursday).
It'll be okay. Long, but worth it, and generally okay.
Last night I closed, and our store's renovation began! I'll go in today to new paint, new furniture, new decorations, no sneeze-guard around the front bar, etc etc. And more things will change over the week. Should be interesting!
Alright, time to finish my breakfast and head to work. Eight hours. Wheeeeee.

I Think I Left My Brain In The Shower.
I had a long day. Not a bad day, just a long one. It had all the potential of being bad--I started it off being very pissed at someone and stuck in a cycle of all the reasons why; the shift that came on is stupid at running breaks and decided not to send me on my ten 2 hours in, when it was slow and there were four other people on the floor, but 3 1/2 hours in, during a rush and just after someone left; my schedule may change next week so I work several eight hour shifts in a row and there's a chance my manager will ask if I can cover a 6AM shift on Friday (HAHAHAHAFUNNY)--but it still wasn't bad.
I'm home, I just got out of a hot shower, waiting for everyone else to get home, waiting for dinner. I could very easily begin waxing philosophical on things like the discussion on abortion I got into with a coworker on Facebook, or honesty and friendship, or even morality in general...I'm in that kind of mindset, and it might even make sense.
But as it is...I just got home, and I'm waiting for dinner, and I just got out of a hot shower. I think I'll listen to some music and continue waiting, stop waiting, and then go to bed.
Tomorrow is another eight hour shift, but I'm going to try my damndest to get up early and meet Aurelie at 933 so we can study together, since I flaked out on our weekly get-together last night and barely see her since transferring.
Whee. Thump. Zzzz.

Almost Did It Again!
It wasn't until almost noon that I realized I hadn't written a post for Saturday. And now, it's past 2:30 in the morning, about to go to bed, and I realize I almost did it again. G'ah!
Obviously, my schedule is slewing toward the late end of things again. However, as opposed to my reaction when it started happening last fall at 933, I'm almost okay with it. It's complicated, but I think it boils down to finally being okay with how I spend my time. I don't have to jump out of bed at 9 every morning and get everything done before noon or I'm a complete loser (and seriously, looking at my parents, where did that come from?).
I didn't have work until 3 today. I slept until 10:30, lazed in bed until 11, then spent the next half an hour getting ready, only to spend my last 15 minutes before leaving out on the balcony, on my knees taking pictures of the distressed wood in the bright sunshine.
I was at 933 from around 12:30 to around 2:30. The first half an hour was spent catching up with AD on her meal break, then I wrote for the rest of the time. Actually, it was partly writing and partly fixing and planning and thinking, with some socialization mixed in as well.
I spent my free time before clocking in at 3 sleeping, prepping, arting, and socializing. A year ago, or even a few months ago, I would have been guilting the crap out of myself for "not getting anything done." Hell, even if I did nothing but go in and work for eight hours, then come home and eat and crash, I would chastise myself for not getting some dishes done, not getting up earlier to do laundry, some bullsh like that.
It does help that I usually don't sleep later than 11, which means most days I have at least an hour to do something. That something usually ends up being dishes or poking at art one way or another, and that's okay. My god, that's liberating!
Of course, this line of thinking is thoroughly helped by the fact that I just finished watching The Devil Wears Prada, in which the heroine (Anne Hathaway) battles between her job and her integrity--did I mention she wants to be a writer, and starts the movie with zero interest in clothes or fashion? Ye-ah.
Anyway. Fantastic movie. Meryl Streep is beyond words. Life is stresful but more or less good. I'm still alive.
...yeah. :)

Working And Sleeping And Writing, Oh My!
So...very...tired.
Yesterday and today had Ryan on opening shift at Target. That means getting up at 7. We're not really early-to-bed birds at all, and I always woke up when he did even thought I didn't have to, so sleep has been rough for both of us the past two nights, for Ryan moreso than me.
Today was my mid-shift this week, which I traded for. I regretted it most of the day. Getting up at 10 after falling back asleep around 8 was painful, and it was...stupidly busy all day. Plus shifts not paying attention to breaks...argh. Just a stupid day all around.
Aurelie and I were going to hang out, but decided that today sucked too much for both of us, and we hated the world too much to be sociable. I still hiked it over to 933 when I got off at 5:30, as writing isn't a social exercise, and found Aurelie still there (she got off at 5), hanging out with BJ and Sameh. We both "tsked" at each other jokingly, we all hung out for a little bit, and then went our separate ways. BJ and Sameh continued on their day-off shopping excursion, Aurelie went off to the Post Office and a night at home, and I settled in for some writing.
And I actually got some done! I was distracted by the interwebs more than I'd like to admit to, but I still managed to pull out...I dunno, some number. All I know is that the current total is 8,738, which isn't too shabby.
This writing streak has been...fantastic. After beating my head against Found for November and most of January, then kick-starting On The/Running only to resort to head-beating by mid-February, this seemingly random spurt of writing with almost no effort is refreshing and wonderful. I'm not sure what's going on--whether the muse decided I needed a break from frustration or I figured out how to get out of my own way or whatever--but I know that I don't care. I'm going to keep milking this while it's goin'!
Something else I find baffling: I'm beginning to like late shifts. I know: bwah?, but really. The night people are slightly less...I don't know...chipper? than the morning people (who are lovely but make me feel like I'm an utter grump by comparison). Plus I'm better at writing before work than after (today was a possible fluke), and, well, I like sleep.
There are other differences, but they're hard to put a finger on. And maybe I'll change my mind. We'll see. For now, seeing that it's currently working to my advantage AND next week's schedule is all pre-closing, I'll just run with it.
Where was I...oh yes. After wrapping up at 933, I came home, where I've been catching up and inputting financials and whatnot. The roommates finally returned a little while ago, and they brought home:
[o] a Lady Gaga poster to add to the collection above the living room couch
[o] the newest Pokemon DS game for Ryan
[o] and a Teavana tea tumbler for me
We have the nicest roommates. Ever. :D
Now, I'm off to either read some more, write some more, or watch some more Weeds with Ryan. Tomorrow is a closing shift for me and a day off for Ryan, so the only guarantee is no-alarm sleeping. BLISS.
Delayed Post Due To Recovering From Insanity.
Sunday. Was. Ridiculous.
Insanely busy.
Ran out of soy milk.
Ran out of whipped creams.
Computers crashed. Twice.
We spent two to three hours giving drinks away because we couldn't charge anyone.
I barred the entire time. And loved every second of it.
Three different co-workers told me I rocked it :) Meanwhile, Shift N is insane--she was on the phone with tech support while taking orders for front, smiling the whole time. She's also very pregnant. And had been there for seven hours, from six in the morning. Insane.
This week is going to be long. Eight hour pre-closing shifts today and Wednesday, six hour shift starting at 10:30 tomorrow, three identical six-hour pre-closing shifts Friday through Sunday. And, as you might have noticed, only one day off. I had Thursday and Friday off, but I picked up a Friday shift at my old store to help out. Extra hours when we're broke? At my beloved 933? Yes.
In other news, Ryan and I baked last night. He made chocolate chip muffins, and I made meringues again. Nom all around. :)
Work soonish, so breakfast and such now. Whee.

Just Another Day.
I have a feeling I won't have enough energy to post tonight, so here I am!
So far today I've taken a shower, caused butter to bust into flame by putting it into a pan that was WAY too hot while trying to make pancakes, made pancakes (half regular, half peanut butter, with one chocolate chip for Ryan), cleaned some dishes, and tweaked my money spreadsheet.
May make muffins tonight after work. Not sure.
Have to leave in 20 minutes for work. Six hour closing shift. Ugh.
Tomorrow should be better in terms of hours--11 to 7:30, mid-shift, hits the busiest times and has the least amount of cleaning.
It's gray outside. And snowing. At least it's not cold enough to stick?
I'm not very exciting today. Oh well! :)

Back...For A Bit.
Originally, this was my third day off this week, thanks to a miscommunication with Boss Lady passed on to New Boss Lady. However, I checked the schedule my last day at my old store, saw that LW had a small number of hours in the middle of a day I had off, and asked if she was attached to them.
So today I worked at my old store, the store that feels like home. It wasn't a fantastic day--the weather was crappy, I was tired, people were cranky, customers were stupid--but it was still nice to be back, even just for six hours.
After work, Ryan and I grabbed groceries. Then I met Aurelie at the Main & Douglas, where she studied and I researched and we ate Chinese and hung out.
Tomorrow night I close at my new store. Blergh.
Sunday is a mid shift, which I prefer, but it is 8 hours long, which I'm still getting re-used to. Also blergh.
I can't wait until the adjustment period is over.

Changing Hours?, First Photopost, Stuff.
I won't be getting home until around midnight tonight, and with probably nothing really new to talk about, so I figured I'd post now.
....not that I really have anything to post about now.
I did talk to Boss Lady about schedule switching, and she made noises that made it seem pretty doable. Well, actually, her first reaction to my missing mids was "ARE YOU INSANE?!" However, upon hearing both my personal reasoning and the part where I'm volunteering for the shift every single other person hates, she seemed happy. Also, I pointed out that, since she's only allowed to be morning/mid, we might actually work together on occasion. That also made her happy. We get along very well, Boss Lady and I. :)
Tonight, I close. Whee. I'm bringing my iPad with the hope of being able to watching stuff on Netflix between rare customers.
What else is new, what else is new...oh yeah, I started that photoblog I was talking about. :D Here's the "official" first picture. I shared this on Facebook and got a few positive responses, and my stepmother even shared it with her friends, which made me go all doofy and blush and stuff.
Although I posted this on what felt like yesterday, it was past midnight and therefore technically today, the 21st. I know that the official Solstice day can vary from the 19th to the 21st, but I only really count it on the 21st. Yes, I'm biased, what with my birthday being May 21st, but oh well.
That's it for now. Hoping to be able to call and chat with people tomorrow night (I only work until 8:30 unless I get cut) or Thursday sometime (day off!).
Have a good one! :D

Yeah I Know I Said But Then I And Then This
I slept, I woke up, I poked around the internet, I went to work, I was there for about a bajillion years, I came home, I am now eating dinner.
....whee.
I'm thinking of talking to Boss Lady about my schedule. First, I might ask for Thursdays and Fridays off instead of Tuesdays and Fridays, as I'm starting to notice that I end my days off with "but it feels like it just started and now I have to go back and bawww." I've been told that having two days off in a row sucks because then you work five days in a row, and that can get pretty tiring. But I'm not sure it'd be so bad, while the soul-killing feeling of time so easily gone is pretty, well, soul-killing.
Next, despite putting my preferred hours as pretty much "the end of the day," I'm rethinking this and pondering asking for mids. Usually starting between 10 or 11 and going until 6 or 7, they're hated because you have to get up sorta-kinda-early, spend the meat of the day at work, then go home just in time for it to be dark and the day to feel over. Not to mention that, while mornings can be busyish, evenings can draaaag, especially if you've been there since 10 or 11.
However, again, I had a few weeks of these in November, and they weren't nearly as bad as I had anticipated. The worst part about them was that they were in November, so I couldn't get up too early and have extra time in the mornings, and I was pretty much cooked by the time I got out and had the evening, and I could feel my writing time just slipping away. Beyond that, it wasn't too bad. Plus, after discussing it with him briefly, I've found that Ryan prefers me working mids, so we can have the evening together, and, as he put it, "it makes dinner easier."
I'm hoping that, despite my pretty recent stated preferences for almost the opposite of what I'm asking for now, the fact that I'm asking for things that no one else really wants (and, in the case of going Thursday-Friday instead of Friday-Saturday, not asking for the thing everyone wants), that I'll be appealing to Boss Lady's logic (she has it! it's great!) and get past the whole I-know-I-just-said-but thorn.
...that was a bad sentence. I blame it on the tired.
Tomorrow is closing. A six-hour shift, so no lunch. With the more irritating of my co-workers. JOY.
Then it's Christmas week, la-de-da, we'll see how it goes...
....whee.

Mooooooose.
Not a whole lot happened today. I did laundry. I went to work. It was slow. I did some schedule hopping. Whee.
I have a new nickname at work! I was making myself a drink with eggnog, my second in the day. L saw it and said "Eggnog again? Gross." I thought she said something about "moose," so I turned and said "Did you just call me a moose?!" She and D cracked up, and spent the rest of the night calling me Moose. I even found that my name on the schedules for the rest of the week had been replaced with Moose.
I think I like it. :)
I actually have quite a few nicknames now--the ones just at work are Ruthus, Ruthless, Toofless Ruthless, and Moose. Others I've collected include Ruthiebug, Ruchen, RuthAnn (or is it Ruth-Ann? Ruth Ann?), and Ruthiekins (thanks, Mom). Oh, and Gatita and Torto-Gatita. If there others I've collected and don't mention, please remind me in the comments! I love my collection...*heart*
I spent the morning stressing out and violently regretting taking the Friday shift over at Main & Douglas, so I'm glad I was able to switch around with someone at my own store. I've slept extremely crappily the past three nights, which has put me on all kinds of edge. Main is the busiest store in the district, even at night, and the idea of not just losing my second day off, but spending it closing (I hate closing) at the busiest store? Twitch. I'm still closing, and at a later hour, but it's with some of my faves at my own, slower-paced store. So, yay. I was also able to help W out by switching around with her on Sunday, so she can study for her Monday & Tuesday finals instead of closing. Always enjoy helping out a friend, and W is super. :D
Time for dinner and SLEEEEEEEEP and yeah. Night!

Scheduling Is FUN.
Originally I was scheduled to work 1-9:30 on Thursday, with Wednesday and Friday off. This kinda bugged me, so I asked around, and K was willing to switch her Friday for my Thursday, so I took her 1-9:30 on Friday and had Wednesday and Thursday off.
W called me last night to ask if I'd switch with her so she wouldn't have to close. I accepted, and my schedule was changed from 1-9:30 to 4-12:30.
This morning, I get multiple calls: first, my manager calls to ask if I can cover a shift next week for a worker at another store who was in a car accident.
First off, this is...kind of really sad and scary. The worker in question is a good kid, 16 years old, was t-boned by a truck a couple of nights ago. I've heard both pick-up truck and semi, not sure which one. His organs are fine, he's reacting to pain, but his brain has swelling and they've put him in a coma to avoid the pain from it. He'll probably live, but they don't know the full extent of the brain damage. :(
Also, another worker from the same store who was due to give birth in January went into labor on the same night. Both mama and baby are fine.
So, anyway...manager calls me, I take 5:30-11:30 next Friday, which I originally had off. Not long after that, D calls and asks if I can take her 7-3 shift on Monday and she'll take my 11-7 shift, since she has something going on Sunday night and didn't want to work really early. I grudgingly took it because she's awesome and was desperate.
After I hung up, I told Ryan what was up, and he said "Wait, don't you close Sunday night?" I check, and I was...except E had asked me earlier this week if I could switch her, so I took her 11-7:30. Dodged a bullet there.
My manager called again around 1, asking if I'd be willing to come in at 3:30 instead of 4, because R was leaving then and it would just be two people for the after-school rush (which can get pretty intense).
During my shift tonight, I tried to see if someone else would be able to take the early Monday shift, without screwing D or myself over for hours since everyone's kinda suffering in that department right now. It looks like L could do it, then D texts me to say that her Sunday thing fell through and never mind about Monday.
So, since the beginning of this week, I have had my hours for five different days change eight times. And I worked nine hours today. And, even with the extra 6.5 hours over these two weeks, I'll only be getting a grand total of 1.5 hours of overtime on my next paycheck, my hours are that low.
I...go sleep now.
